Starting the evening of September 15th, Catemaco and every town, municipio, or city in Mexico explodes
with patriotic pride, reliving the start of its fight of independence from Spain, with a reenactment of Miguel
Hidalgo's famous"grito" and giant street parties.
The morning of September 16th, most segments of society
participate in a parade, including most schools and their "war bands" and also marching city agencies, the
police forces and this year, something rarely seen in Catemaco, the Mexican Army.
