These statistics are a compendium of different sites perhaps because of that they do not add up
horizontally!

Total area of the counties included in the counties of Los Tuxtlas is:
513,916 hectares = 5139 square kilometers = 1984 square miles, which is about half the size of Los
Angeles County, a little larger than the smallest US state Rhode Island, and somewhat larger than Mexico´s
Distrito Federal (1479 miles2)

But the total area less total municipal area is 84,104 hectares.
Still need to find out where those hectares disappeared to.

The actual geographic Sierra de los Tuxtlas is considerably smaller, only occupying roughly 3900 km2,
(1506 square miles)

The reserva occupies 155,122 hectares (599 square miles), including 29,720 nuclear hectares (115
square miles). That´s a small ranch in Australia or Texas.
