The mangroves of Laguna de Sontecomapan are a treat for any nature watcher. So called
red , white and black mangroves alternate with narrow waterways and a plethora of
aquatic birds.
The area is on the endangered habitat list and efforts are being made to restore it.
A tour can be joined at the Sontecomapan embarcadero. Although in the off season, you
may have to rent an entire boat.
