Except for statistical analysis, I have yet to see any political benefits arising from the official regions.
Until 2005 Los Tuxtlas were split among 2 regions, Sotavento and Las Selvas.
As of now the Tuxtlas regions are Los Tuxtlas and Las Olmecas.
Political districting also gerrymandered Los Tuxtlas.
