Veracruz is the origin of jarochero music.

What is the son jarocho? - both in english and español.
Yes, there are also a few mariachis marching around
and musica tropical and romantico is well represented
by groups of troubadors charging around 10 pesos per
musician per song.

But that´s more and more for tourists. Rock´n Roll is
lamentably here to stay while  ranchero music
(Mexican country)  is still putting up a good fight on the
local juke boxes.
